We love the spooky season and comics, so creating an Instagram AR filter for David Dastmalchian's Count Crowley series was a no-brainer. Inspired by classic creature feature hosts like Elvira and Svengoolie, the filter gives users a collectible trading card feel with face paint and wild hair. Utilizing Meta’s Spark AR Studio, we designed the filter using simple polygons and transparent textures to stay within file size requirements while also giving it a comic-like finish. The final effect was an instant hit, especially during Halloween, allowing fans to transform into Count Crowley without the need for makeup or wigs. David Dastmalchian loved the filter and gave us a shout out on his Instagram. It was incredible to see fans embracing the character and sharing their transformations on the beloved social media platform.
